  • Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and competition to children and adults 8 years of age and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • We currently serve over 1,000 athletes throughout Duval County.
  • We offer 12 different sports.
  • Our athletes are also invited to participate in Athlete Leadership Programs and Healthy Athletes initiatives.
  • Over 700 people from our community give their time to volunteer with Special Olympics each year.

Register for Our Summer Sports

Beginning in May, our focus is on our summer sports: Aquatics, Bowling, Golf, Stand Up Paddle and Surfing. If you and/or your athlete are interested in either participating or coaching any of these sports, contact us today! Also, check out our Sports pages for more information.

Know someone who’s over eight years of age and wants to become a Special Olympics Florida – Duval County athlete? Step One: completely fill out our Medical Form and Consent/Release Form. Step Two: fax completed forms to (904) 241.5241. Step Three: be sure to check the Athlete Eligibility. Finally: let us know which sports your athlete is interested in when you send in the forms! We’re looking forward to meeting you and your athlete.


Getting Ready for the State Summer Games

The next big event on our calendar is the 2014 State Summer Games at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports facility in Kissimmee, Florida, May 16-18th. Athletes who participated and finished 1st their sport (Track & Field, Bocce, Soccer and Tennis) have been chosen, and preparations are being made to have a super successful trip. If you’re interested in attending as a spectator, there’s no charge to enter ESPN’s Wide World of Sports to enjoy a great weekend of competition. Click here for a tentative schedule of events.

Publix Torch Campaign Raises Both Awareness & Funds

We’d like to thank all the athletes from the Duval County Publix region that represented Special Olympics throughout the campaign! Duval County athlete Megan Bell’s face has been plastered all over Publix stores during the month of January and we couldn’t be more proud of her! Check out her appearance on WJXT’s Morning Show from Tuesday, January 21st.

How to Donate Directly to Duval

Our program is made possible through the generosity of individuals, civic clubs, businesses and corporations both local and across the nation. Our athletes participate in our program at no cost; therefore, without volunteers and donations, the program would not exist.

We accept donations in the form of checks and money orders; or items such as water, food, transportation, office supplies, and shoes for our athletes.
