  • Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and competition to children and adults 8 years of age and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Our athletes are also invited to participate in Athlete Leadership and Healthy Athletes programs.
  • We currently offer 17 sports.
  • We serve over 553 athletes throughout Escambia County.
  • Over 130 people from our community give their time to volunteer each year.

Help Needed!!

Paddle Looking for experienced Sports Management and Fundraising Volunteers.  Sports Mangers will work directly with the County Director to define and execute the County’s strategic plan for 2017 Fall Classic Sports and Summer Games Sports.  Includes developing new athletes, coaches, sports volunteers and venues.  Fall Classic Sports include Powerlifting, Gymnastics, Softball and Flag Football.  Summer Games Sports include:  Cycling, Tennis, Bocce, Volleyball and Track & Field.  Alternate Sports Managers needed for 2017 Swimming, Surfing, Stand up Paddle, Golf and Bowling.

Fundraising Management team will work with County Director to execute established events and integrate Special Olympics Florida as beneficiary in existing Community events.


How to Donate Directly to Escambia County

Our program is made possible through the generosity of individuals, civic clubs, businesses and corporations both local and across the nation. Our athletes participate in our program at no cost; therefore, without volunteers and donations, the program would not exist.

We accept donations in the form of cash or checks; or items such as water, food, transportation, office supplies, and equipment or shoes for our athletes.
