You Made a Difference

Posted on December 20, 2013 | Posted in Uncategorized

As the year comes to a close, we would like to share some of the accomplishments your support has made possible for the more than 24,000 athletes we serve.

In 2013, Florida’s athletes brought home medals from the World Winter Games in Pyeong Chang, South Korea. Our Special Olympics Florida Healthy Communities site opened its doors and will soon celebrate its first birthday. Hundreds of athletes from around the state embraced our two newest sports – Surfing and Stand Up Paddle. And many others are already training to compete at the 2014 USA Games in New Jersey next June.

Because of you, Special Olympics Florida enters 2014 with tremendous momentum and excitement – thank you!

Warm wishes for a Happy Holiday and New Year from Special Olympics Florida.

I am volunteering for the West Virginia Special Olympics and one of the tasks I’ve been assigned is data gathering. They are looking into starting the ALP. I was hoping you could tell me how many Florida athletes are involved in your ALP programs.

    Thank you for your time.

Thanks for asking – Athlete Leadership is an important part of Special Olympics and we are happy to help you. Nancy Sawyer leads our program in Florida; we will email you additional information but you can also find her contact info on our About Us page under Staff. Good luck with your research!
