Special Olympics Florida announced that Timothy Hodgins, a Special Olympics athlete from Leon County, has joined its Board of Directors.
“Tim has been a leader in the Special Olympics Florida community for many years,” sinabi President at CEO ng Espesyal na Olympics Florida, Sherry Wheelock. “We look forward to his unique perspective as a Special Olympics Florida athlete and advocate on the board. His experiences on the playing field and as an Athlete Leader will enhance our board and organization as a whole.”
It is an honor for me to be the representative on the board of directors for all the athletes in the state of Florida. I will strive to be their voice and look forward to learning how I can help make Special Olympics Florida even better,” said Hodgins.
Hodgins has participated in Special Olympics Florida for nine years including bowling, tenis, maglaro ng golp, basketbol, paglangoy, at ang Atleta Pamumuno program. He previously served as the chairperson of the Athlete Leadership Program in Leon County.
For the past two years, Hodgins has represented Special Olympics Florida in Washington, D.C., for Special Olympics Capitol Hill Day to lobby members of Congress for policies affecting Special Olympics programs and athletes.
Hodgins resides in Tallahassee and is employed at Publix Super Markets.
The Special Olympics Florida – Leon County Gala will be held on June 24, 2017, at the Doubletree by Hilton Downtown Tallahassee at 6:00 p.m. Hodgins will serve as the master of ceremonies for the event. For tickets or more information, bisitahin www.specialolympicsleon.org.
