Did You Know

    • Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and competition to children and adults 8 years of age and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
    • Our athletes are also invited to participate in Athlete Leadership and Healthy Athletes programs.
    • We currently offer 11 different sports.
    • We serve 1,015 athletes throughout Collier County.
    • Over 330 people from our community give their time to volunteer each year.

What’s Happening in Collier

Recent Honors and Events

Two local athletes will compete in the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games. Vivy Pantoja will be a member of the Special Olympics Florida stand up paddle team, and Jill Walker will be a member of the Special Olympics Florida bocce team. The 2018 Special Olympics USA Games will be held in Seattle, Washington July 1-6, 2018. More than 4,000 athletes and coaches representing 50 state Programs and the District of Columbia, along with the support of tens of thousands of volunteers and spectators, will compete in 14 Olympic-type team and individual sports.

theinpaulWe’re excited to announce that Greater Naples YMCA President and CEO Paul Thein has joined the Special Olympics Florida Board of Directors! Local Collier County coach Kelly Stevenson-Crews has been honored as the 2016 Special Olympics Florida Coach of the Year, and she was also named one of the 13 finalists for North America Coach of the Year! Click here to see a video from the October Collier County School Board meeting, when Kelly was recognized by the school board for her dedication to her students and to the entire community.

All Collier County Public Schools high schools and middle schools recently participated in the Unified Champion Schools (formerly Project UNIFY) Field Day events. How to Donate Directly to Special Olympics Florida – Collier County

Our program is made possible through the generosity of local individuals, civic clubs, businesses and corporations. Our athletes participate in our program at no cost; therefore, without volunteers and donations, the program would not exist.

We accept donations in the form of cash or checks; or items such as water, food, transportation, office supplies, and equipment or shoes for our athletes.
