Did You Know

  • Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and competition to children and adults 8 years of age and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Our athletes are also invited to participate in Athlete Leadership and Healthy Athletes programs.
  • We currently offer 17 sports.
  • We serve 1,559 athletes throughout Pasco County.
  • 240 people from our community give their time to volunteer each year.

Upcoming Events and Shout Outs

  • Registration is underway for Stand Up Paddle, Swimming and Golf!
  • Athletes interested in Stand up Paddle Board will need to complete a swim test on May 16th at the Land O Lakes Rec Center pool.  Practice will begin May 23rd from 4:30-5:30 at the Hernando Special Olympics Office.  All other practices will be from 9-10am. Sign up to volunteer for Stand up Paddle Board or contact Phyllis Crain for more info.
  • Athletes interested in swimming can register by contacting their local division coach:  Eastside and Central (Land O Lakes practice facility) or Westside (New Port Richey Rec Center) 
  • Golf practice for Westside golfers begins Wednesday, April 25th at Seven Springs Golf Club from 5:00 – 6:00.  Central Pasco and Eastside practice will be held at Plantation Palms.  Contact Val Lundin for more information.
  • Register now for Pasco County’s 20th Annual Golf scramble on May 5th.  Assemble your team and submit your registration form before April 30th.  
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers Quarterback Jameis Winston has invited 75 Special Olympics Florida athletes and Unified partners between the ages of 8-14 to his 2018 Football Camp on June 2-3.  Register online.

Our program is made possible through the generosity of local individuals, civic clubs, businesses and corporations. Our athletes participate in our program at no cost; therefore, without volunteers and donations, the program would not exist.

We accept donations in the form of cash or checks or items such as water, food, transportation, office supplies, and equipment, uniforms or shoes for our athletes.
