Happy Camp Shriver Day, Miami!

Happy Camp Shriver Day to everyone in Miami! For more than 15 years, this incredible, inclusive camp has been offered to campers thanks to the longstanding support of the First Tee Miami-Dade Amateur Golf Association and the City of Miami.

In fact, in 2016, city officials designated July 14 as Camp Shriver Day to celebrate the 10^th anniversary of the program. The camp embodies one of the core principles of Special Olympics Florida. It breaks down barriers, by bringing together people with and without disabilities to participate in camp activities with one another.

Camp Shriver was created by Special Olympics Founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver in the 1960s and, ultimately, launched the Special Olympics movement. In addition to the Miami site, Special Olympics Florida offers Camp Shriver programs in Orange County and in Collier County.
