Remembering Harvey L. Massey
Special Olympics Florida was saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Harvey L. Massey, Founder and Chairman of Massey Services. A longtime Central Florida resident, he leaves behind a legacy of philanthropy and entrepreneurship. After successfully growing his business, Mr. Massey, along with his wife, Carol, dedicated themselves to helping their community by establishing the Harvey and Carol Massey Foundation. The Foundation focused on supporting the arts, education, health and human services, and more.
When asked why philanthropy was important, Mr. Massey answered, "Philanthropy, at its best, is about caring, sharing, and giving back. When you think about it, aren't these the attributes and qualities we all respect and admire?"
True to his testament, Mr. Massey, personally and through Massey Services, dedicated time, talent, and treasure to a number of national and regional boards and charitable organizations.
Most recently, with Mr. Massey’s support, Massey Services signed on as supporting sponsor for Special Olympics Florida’s Athlete Leadership, a program which empowers athletes to develop leadership skills and utilize their voices to create inclusive communities. Massey Services was also a member of the 2022 Club, a group which provided financial support to the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games held in Orlando last summer.
Our hearts and gratitude go out to the Massey Family, Massey Services employees, and his friends who have lost a man of incredible integrity, service to others, and thoughtful and compassionate leadership.
