41st Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run Kickoff Event
Special Olympics Florida launched its 41st Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run in Tallahassee on April 10, with a run followed by a kickoff celebration.
Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody was on hand to mark the event and show her support for Florida law enforcement and the athletes of Special Olympics Florida. The kickoff ceremony took place at Capitol Courtyard. Check out video from the ceremony here.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics Florida’s largest annual public relations and fundraising event, featuring officers from more than 300 agencies across the state. Agencies from every level of government are represented.
Each year, officers carry the “Flame of Hope” thousands of miles throughout the state, ultimately delivering it to the Opening Ceremonies of Special Olympics Florida’s State Summer Games. Florida’s Torch Run is part of a worldwide effort by law enforcement to raise awareness of, and support for, the mission of Special Olympics.
