UCF Police and Dunkin’ Team Up
As part of a fundraiser benefiting Special Olympics Florida, officers with the University of Central Florida Police Department delivered donuts to UCF students, faculty and staff on March 3. UCF officers picked up the tasty treats from Dunkin’ and made deliveries at UCF’s four campuses.
“As a smaller agency, we have to get creative and think up new ideas for fundraising,” said Debbie Pope, UCFPD’s Clery Compliance Analyst and Special Olympics Florida liaison. “All of the officers who participated love volunteering, and the community truly loves having UCFPD deliver their donuts.”
The effort is part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, a fundraising campaign supporting the athletes of Special Olympics Florida. Officers from more than 300 law enforcement agencies across Florida participate in local runs to raise money for Special Olympics Florida. Agencies also organize other fundraisers – such as today’s donut delivery, which is in its second year.
“We are so grateful to UCF officers, the entire UCF community, and Dunkin’ for supporting our athletes,” said Special Olympics Florida President and CEO Sherry Wheelock. “What a fun way to be part of our mission.”
