Orlando Magazine’s Women of the Year
Special Olympics Florida President and CEO Sherry Wheelock has been selected as one of Orlando Magazine’s Women of the Year! The award honors women making a positive impact on their communities, recognizing local civic leaders, volunteers, executives, and others.
Sherry was chosen for her work to improve the lives of people with intellectual disabilities and build communities where all people are treated with dignity and respect. She was one of four women to receive the award this year.
“While growing up and throughout my youth, my parents and grandparents instilled in me the importance of service to others,” she told the magazine. “It is a critical factor in building strong communities, and for me is imperative for a life well-lived.” Read the full story here.
