Riding to Support Special Olympics Florida Athletes
By Delanie Ross / Special Olympics Florida
Special Olympics Florida was one of 30 nonprofits competing in the 2024 Great Charity Challenge sponsored by Fidelity Investments. Thanks to the talents of Team Sponge Bob Square Pants, Special Olympics Florida received $17,500!
Each year the GCC identifies local nonprofits and raises money for them through the Winter Equestrian Festival, held at Wellington International in Wellington, Fl. The GCC is a pro-am show jumping event featuring teams of three riders competing to raise money.
Every team receives a theme to represent during the event, and, this year, the theme for the Special Olympics Florida team was Sponge Bob Square Pants.
This year, the GCC celebrated its 15th anniversary and reached a significant milestone in donations. Since 2009, the GCC has raised and distributed over $20 million to more than 300 nonprofits in Palm Beach County. Special Olympics Florida is honored to be included in this year’s group of eligible nonprofits.
Thank you to the GCC for this incredible opportunity!
