State Equestrian Championship
Congratulations to all the athletes who competed on April 8-9 at our State Equestrian Championship in Ocala! The event featured two days of competition, showcasing the incredible riding skills of some 130 Special Olympics Florida athletes. Riders competed in showmanship, dressage, barrel racing, pole bending, equitation and trails.
Twenty-four of the athletes were competing in their final event before heading off to the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games in June. The event included a drill team exhibition, with teams coming from four different counties.
Once again, the World Equestrian Center provided a spectacular setting and made our athletes and their families feel right at home. We also had tremendous help from the Bakas Equestrian Center. Many thanks to Publix, Advent Health, CareerSource, and the Delta Nu Zeta sorority from the University of Florida.
