Escambia County Athlete Sparks New Partnership

Danelle Shavers
We often say that athletes are the best ambassadors of the Special Olympics Florida mission, and Escambia County’s Danelle Shavers just proves the point. This year, Danelle played an influential role in securing a new corporate partner.

Danelle is a longtime employee of Pensacola State College, and so she reached out to Kylie Henderson in the college’s Foundation Department about supporting Special Olympics Florida. Kylie kindly offered to help find funds for Danelle’s powerlifting uniform.

Kylie connected with PenAir Credit Union and talked with them about Danelle and the powerlifting team. PenAir, in turn, offered to fund the team’s uniforms and its participation in the State Fall Classic.

To recognize their contributions, PenAir was presented with a banner at the 2024 Pensacola Race for Inclusion. We're excited to announce that PenAir plans to partner with us for more events in the new year!

Thank you PenAir for your continued support, and thank you Danelle. Without your determination and persistence, we would not have established this terrific relationship.
