Hangin’ 10

More than 110 athletes from 15 counties across Florida flocked to Cocoa Beach recently for Special Olympics Florida’s State Surfing Competition.

Helped by almost 150 dedicated coaches and volunteers, the surfers gathered at Alan Shepard Park to shred the waves and compete in four different skill levels. The two-day event featured some of Special Olympics Florida’s most talented surfers showing off their signature moves. They were cheered on by family, friends, and beach-goers drawn to the excitement.

After the first day of competition, athletes were treated to a beach party at the hotel where they were staying.

The State Surf Competition was made possible by our partners at Publix Super Markets, Ron Jon Surf Shop, and Surfing’s Evolution & Preservation Foundation. A huge thanks to them and to our host, the City of Cocoa Beach.
