Supporting Inclusion in Gainesville and in Schools Around Florida

Race For Inclusion - Gainesville

We had two great Race for Inclusion events in early December.

More than 400 people turned out for the Race for Inclusion – Gainesville at the University of Florida on December 7. The Special Olympics Florida - UF College Club played a huge role in organizing the early morning 5K, which attracted student athletes from the UF baseball and gymnastics teams. Gator mascots Albert and Alberta also made an appearance.

A huge thanks to our hosts and our sponsors: Publix Super Markets, Accenture, United Healthcare, and the City of Alachua.

Meanwhile, Unified Champion Schools across the state came together on December 3 – the International Day of Persons with Disabilities – to celebrate inclusion and raise money to support their Unified programs. They paraded through the halls, signed Race for Inclusion banners, and played inclusive games to support the campaign.

This was the first year the Race for Inclusion had an event specifically for Unified Champion Schools. We are so grateful to everyone who participated and can’t wait to see how this event grows in the coming years.
