On November 2, almost 700 runners and walkers gathered on the campus of Nova Southeastern University to be part of the 2024 Sallarulo’s Race for Champions. The 5K run/walk, founded by Paul Sallarulo, celebrated its 19th year of supporting our Special Olympics Florida athletes.
A South Florida institution, the race attracts participants from throughout the region. This year’s event was a huge success, featuring 685 runners and walkers who helped raise nearly $300,0000 in support of more than 7,600 Special Olympics Florida athletes in Broward County.
Paul Sallarulo, a Broward County business executive, has been involved with Special Olympics for more than 45 years. His commitment to helping Special Olympics athletes is personal. His son Patrick has been a Special Olympics athlete for decades.
Each year, Patrick and his sister Samantha serve as team captains for the event founded by their father. Over the years, Paul has raised more than $7 million to support our athletes. We are so thankful for his dedication to our athletes and our mission!
