The Gift of Golf
By Delanie Ross / Special Olympics Florida
Recently,
THE PLAYERS Championship awarded Special Olympics Florida’s Northeast
Region 24 sets of golf clubs for local athletes. This
generous contribution supports Special Olympics Florida’s local golf
program by giving athletes the gear they need to succeed. The equipment
will be used by Northeast Florida’s 58 golf athletes.
"This
ensures our athletes have access to quality equipment, allowing them to
hone their skills and fully participate in the sport they love,” said
Shelley Henry, the Northeast Regional Director of Special Olympics
Florida. “This contribution significantly enhances our mission to foster
inclusivity and provide meaningful opportunities for our athletes.”
This
donation was made possible through THE PLAYERS Championship Equipment
Grant Program, which provides equipment to local nonprofits.
Lee Smith, Executive Director of THE PLAYERS Championship, said the organization was honored to supply Special Olympics Florida with the new clubs.
“We believe that every individual should have the opportunity to enjoy the game of golf and experience the benefits of sports participation," Smith said.
Thank you to THE PLAYERS Championship!
