The Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools® Program

Unified Champion Schools promotes social inclusion by bringing together young people with and without ID on sports teams (Special Olympics Unified Sports®), through inclusive student clubs, together in school or community-wide initiatives, and by fostering youth leadership.  At its core, this strategy is about unifying all students – with and without disabilities – using sports as a catalyst for social inclusion and attitude and behavioral change.   Learn more about this global initiative and subscribe to the Generation Unified YouTube Channel.

Special Olympics Florida has a unique partnership with the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA). High schools in our Unified Champion Schools®  program compete in bowling, flag football, basketball, tennis and track and are recognized as a Varsity athlete at their school. Students with and without intellectual disabilities are provided the opportunity to represent their schools at an elite level by competing at the FHSAA State Championships in their own Unified Division. These sports experiences are valuable and will forever be remembered by all our students competing. We are very grateful to continue offering these wonderful sports, leadership, friendship, and team-building moments.
